SUGGESTED RIDES

SOUTH FROM SOLITE:

Head south from Solite Park along the shady, tree-lined trail. Once past the park, you'll cross Pearson Drive. Just past Cook Road, hidden behind the trees to your right, is Southwest Elementary School. As you continue south, paralleling Fayetteville Road, Woodcroft's Fortunes Ridge Drive is on your right.

Across Woodcroft Parkway, the trail curls around behind Eckerd Drugs and a daycare center. After almost a mile, you'll come to Southpoint Crossing shopping center. You can follow the trail around behind the shopping center to where it ends at Highway 54. A planned footbridge across I-40 will someday link this section of the ATT to southern sections which travel through Wake and Chatham Counties.

This ride is approximately 6 miles round-trip, and is a great shady route for a sunny summer day. It'll take about an hour at a leisurely pace.

NORTH TO DOWNTOWN:

Head north from Solite Park for a ride along the east side of Fayetteville Road. This part of the trail is more open, making it a perfect ride for a brisk fall day when the sunshine feels good! Watch for several spur trails to explore on your way up or on your way back.

The Riddle Road spur trail heads off to the east near Mile Marker 3. Paralleling its namesake road, it ends at Briggs Avenue.

The Rocky Creek & Pearsontown spur trails branch off to the east near Mile Marker 2. The Rocky Creek spur heads up to NC Central; the Pearsontown trail ends at Alston Ave (NC-55). Also at Mile Marker 2, you'll see a historical marker for blues artist Blind Boy Fuller.

Near the northern end of the trail you'll see Forest Hills Shopping Center on your left. You may also glimpse Forest Hills Park on the left. Soon Durham's skyline appears.

Continue north across the Lakewood Avenue footbridge into downtown Durham. The trail ends at the Durham Freeway; continue through the underpass to reach the Durham Bulls Ballpark. This ride is approximately 8 miles round-trip and is an easy hour-and-a-half ride.
